Some of the most exclusive spirits in the world, including a French cognac from the Second World War, will be featured at the largest wine and spirits fair in Asia this week.
As one of only two bottles in the world, the Dupuy Vintage 1940 will be shown off at the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair this week, where more than 930 exhibitors from 37 countries are expected to attend.
Described as an unblended cognac with a fresh, mineral smell and a light peppery note, the vintage cognac from the Second World War is said to melt on the palate and end with a woody finish.
For cognac connoisseurs, the bottle -- packaged to mimic the old brokers' flask -- is also for sale and carries a handsome price tag of $111,000 HKD or €10,405.
Dos Lunas Grand Reserve Extra Anejo Tequila also claims to be the world's first commercially available 10-year-old tequila, aged in sherry oak casks and bottled in hand-blown, Baccarat crystal decanters. Each bottle is housed in an ebonized wood box with a crystal stopper and sterling silver key and necklace, for a retail price of €2,625.
And Scottish distiller Whyte and Mackay will display its limited-edition 40-year-old single malt scotch whisky, The Dalmore, one of 1,000 bottles in the world. According to the Whisky Exchange, the vintage spirit from 1966 evokes orange marmalade and Christmas pudding on the nose, with faint notes of wood. Brittle toffee and chocolate then play up the palate with spicy orange and almonds. A bottle retails for £1,500 or €1,740.
The Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair runs November 3 to 5.
