Jamie Oliver is drafting plans to expand his growing restaurant empire into North America with outposts of his Italian eatery opening in Canada and the US.
According to British newspaper The Telegraph, Oliver is eyeing a trans-Atlantic move for his restaurant chain Jamie’s Italian, which already has international locations in Sydney, Australia, and Dubai. Last year, Oliver confirmed that a Los Angeles outpost was in the works and said it will happen "in the next few years."
Of his three restaurant brands -- Jamie’s Italian, Fifteen and Barbecoa -- Jamie’s Italian is the most successful, with 24 sites across the UK and more openings on the way, says the Telegraph. The concept is to offer hearty, traditional, Italian meals at moderate prices.
The menu ranges from Tagliatelle Bolognese, and Wild Truffle Risotto, to Angus Sirloin Steak and Osso Bucco Milanese. Prices for pastas and mains range from £7 (8€) to £17 (20€).
Meanwhile, Oliver’s not the only British chef to invade the US. Last week, Gordon Ramsay announced plans to open his first US outpost in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. His restaurant Gordon Ramsay Steak is slated for a spring opening.
