Free Love in Times Square

BIG♥NYC sculpture

For decades Times Square has been a destination for the New Year's Eve countdown. Now it could be a romantic rendezvous for Valentine's Day with events scheduled in the heart of New York City called "Free Love in Times Square."

For the 4th year, the Times Square Alliance commissioned a public Valentine sculpture for the pedestrian walkway in celebration of February 14. Touch this year's giant heart installation and it beats faster. Hold hands or kiss and the interactive work glows brighter.
The 10-foot (over 3 meters) tall cube of 400 transparent LED light tubes creates what looks like a glowing red heart floating in the middle of acrylic rods. It will be on display throughout the month of February.

Designed by the architects of Bjarke Ingels Group, the BIG♥NYC sculpture consists of materials that reflect "the movement, lights, the masses" of Times Square, states the press release, brought to life through the energy of the crowds.

Also, this year on the glass Red Steps of Times Square, couples can renew their vows at the Brides "Love Truck" and say "I do" again at a 6pm ceremony. At the Crossroads of the World they can declare their love -- a declaration that will be projected on a flashing digital billboard for the throngs to witness and webcast live at TimesSquareNYC.org.

Pre-registration is required at the website, which will enter participants in a second honeymoon sweepstakes, at http://www.TimesSquareNYC.org.

People's personal love stories and lessons in love will also be streamed live on brides.com/love and special Valentine's Day deals for sweethearts at restaurants, hotels and Broadway shows such as Venus in Fur "are offered."- Relaxnews
